I have been shocked to see what poor quality furniture can pass for decent in the eyes of my husband. Maybe it is the fact that I grew up in a city known for high quality antiques, and I would frequent those shops with my well informed mother that I instantly know certain things. Or maybe it is because he has not spent anytime selecting furniture in the past. But, it is nothing short of painful when we go on the hunt for furnishings for our home because he is oblivious to what constitutes good furniture.

Oddly enough, somehow he not only can find multitudes of fiber board, and imitation wood, but he finds it at a pretty expensive price too. But, I must tell you that he is an unbelievably good sport when it comes down to it, as he is taking all of the tell tale signs of a short lived piece, and a pass it on to your ancestors piece. If he were not eager to learn, or even willing I do not think we could survive it, as simply could not bring myself to purchase items that I know will disintegrate, or scratch, or chip, or whatever else that is not good. My advice to all you quality furniture lovers out there, give anyone who is shopping with you a quick tutorial on what is good and what is a grievance.
