The Way to Care For Your Teak Furniture
November 5th, 2011Good FurnitureIf you are the happy owner of teak outdoor furniture, then you should be taking a concerted effort to maintain that beautiful stuff. Now we know this does not sound like much fun, but is a requirement if your are to preserve its original appearance. This material is gorgeous and that is a wonderful thing, but the downside for some is that it is not low maintenance in the scheme of outdoor furniture options. To keep it in good shape for as long as possible, it will need be given attention as follows.
The main item of interest in the upkeep of teak is oil. The wood will need to have oil painted onto it in the same direction as the grain on a regular basis. It is well worth the effort, and will aid it in maintaining its lovely honey brown shade, but without these applications be prepared for it to turn grey in colour. Also, remember that the oil will need to dry all the way, so be alert to the weather forecast prior to pulling out the supplies for this chore.
